Following the 6th grade parent conferences from last week, TINFA also resumed middle school visits for the 6th graders at our partner schools after a two-year hiatus. With the Olintepeque district, the 6th grade students went to two of their neighborhood middle schools. The district of El Cantel took a different approach when the coordinator of the Ministry of Education proposed a forum rather than individual school visits. The event was a great success with 90% of all the 6th graders at the six TINFA partner schools of the district attending.

Pre-COVID, TINFA organized parent conferences and middle school visits for the 6th graders to encourage middle school attendance. After a 2-year break due to COVID, we are excited that both activities have resumed! For the first time, the Ministry of Education of two districts are partnering with TINFA to be actively involved with the conferences this year.

Our evaluation consultant will visit the five schools that have graduated from the TINFA program in 2020. Sustainability is one of our main focus. We want to find out if the TINFA program is still operating in these schools. If so, how, and if not, why.
