100% Graduated—A TINFA Milestone

As we close out the 2025 academic year, we’re thrilled to celebrate a major achievement for TINFA and our partner communities: all 59 teachers across 12 partner schools representing 100% of our cohort, successfully graduated from TINFA’s teacher training program.

On November 19, we came together for a heartfelt graduation ceremony to honor their achievements. The event featured stories from two inspiring graduates, who shared how the program has shaped their teaching and strengthened their classrooms. We also heard a moving message from one participating teacher to TINFA’s supporters, reflecting the deep commitment and collaboration that make this work possible.

This year, we partnered with 12 schools in the Quetzaltenango region, working together toward our shared goal of improving elementary school learning in rural Guatemala. Thanks to the dedication of these teachers and the support of our community we’re making meaningful, lasting progress.

We couldn’t be prouder of this cohort and the impact they’re already making. Here’s to continuing the journey, together.

TINFA In Action: A Visit to Classrooms in Guatemala

In late March and early April, several members of TINFA’s Board, along with our Executive Director Emma Le Du, travelled to Guatemala to visit a number of schools participating in TINFA’s teacher training program.

From the moment we stepped into each classroom, we were met with warmth, enthusiasm, and a contagious energy from both teachers and students. Classrooms were buzzing with curiosity and as students showcased what they’ve been learning. After a few smiles and introductions, we quietly found our way to the back of the room and the lessons carried on, and we were soon forgotten.

What struck us most was the creative and thoughtful ways teachers are bringing technology into their classrooms. In one geography lesson, students used Google Maps to explore parts of the world in a way a textbook simply can’t capture. In another, QR codes transformed a simple quiz into an engaging, real-time polling game, igniting a spirit of friendly competition.

Across all the classrooms, it was clear: when technology is paired with traditional teaching practices, magic happens. Students were not just learning—they were excited to learn. And that’s the kind of transformation we aim to witness.

Around the Corner: GiveBIG 2025

This year’s annual GiveBIG fundraiser is coming up on May 6–7!

Our 2025 theme is “Supporting Guatemala’s Future,” a reflection of the incredible momentum we’ve seen in classrooms and communities thanks to your support. In the coming weeks we’ll be sharing more about how TINFA is working to make a difference with teachers and students in Guatemala—and how you can continue to be part of this important work through GiveBIG.
