Schools are opening, classes are starting

After 2 years of not going to school, most of our partner schools are now open for students to come in the classroom. The schools are open in “bubble mode”, to minimize density : a student comes to school one or two days a week, the teacher repeats their instruction with a different “bubble” in the other days of the week. It is not ideal, but it is definitely moving in the right direction.

TINFA is in full gear, in its training of teachers. The first Technical Trainings took place 2 weeks ago. This was a physical training, so that teachers from all levels could learn the foundation of the use of technology, and the techniques necessary to subsequently join a Zoom training.

And this week, the Curriculum Building training took place for the teachers of 4th grade, 5th grade and 6th grade. Teachers worked in small virtual groups to prepare material on a subject of their choice. They also prepared worksheets for their students to work on while not at school, and they evaluated a “model class”, providing feedback on the techniques being used.

All in all, a great start of school!

Next is our new anticipated “maestros modelos” program : a program where 3 of our most outstanding teachers are proposing workshops for the community of teachers we are working with currently or have graduated from our program in the past. Over 100 teachers have registered for the first workshop on Monday!
