On Tuesday, November 29th ,2022, 66 teachers and their school Directors (Principals) gathered with regional representatives of the Guatemalan Ministry of Education and our TINFA local consultant to observe the graduation of the largest class of teachers yet at the completion of a year of training on technology in the classroom. TINFA’s Executive Director and 24 Seattle area supporters joined the ceremonies via Zoom to celebrate the teachers’ accomplishments.
Teachers shared their satisfaction that their new technology skills will enable them to provide a fresher, more stimulating experience for their students. Others shared their pride at becoming proficient with multiple technology tools, like PPT, Pretzi, Canva, the use of videos, images and music in the classroom.
School Directors and Ministry representatives expressed their appreciation for the equipment and training provided by TINFA and their confidence that teachers would continue to use their new skills well into the future, to the benefit of their students.
It was a joyous celebration with testimonials from several participants and capped by a Miguel Angel Asturias poem recited by graduated teacher Luis Morales. Certificates of completion were presented by Ministry representatives to each proud graduating teacher.
Approximate translation:
Flow.
By Miguel Angel Asturias
To give is to love,
Give prodigiously
For every drop of water
Return a torrent
We were made like this
Made to drop seeds in the furrow
And stars in the sea
And woe! of whom does not exhaust
Lord, your provision
And when I come back I tell you:
Like an empty saddlebag
This is my heart!
With special dedication to donors to the TINFA program.
