The school year has started, and teachers are prepared!

Thanks to your continued support, we have been able to make great strides in improving the quality of education in rural Guatemala.

The teacher training program kicked off successfully 2 weeks ago before school started. This year, a healthy cohort of 58 teachers from 12 schools has enrolled, and all are excited to learn new tools and techniques to use in their classroom.

To ensure that our advanced program provides enough challenges to the teachers at that level, we have updated the technical curriculum with additional advanced tools and skills. We have also introduced a capstone project for teachers to create a teaching video on some of the technical skills needed to teach with technology in the classroom. This project will not only help teachers in the advanced program to improve their own skills but will also benefit other teachers in past/present and future cohorts.

Our first training was conducted in person and lasted all day for the 3 levels (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced). This way, all teachers are starting the school year with strong foundations and motivation. We believe that this is critical to the success of the program and the impact it will have on the kids in the classroom.

And then, school started!

Thank you School San Marcos for sharing this video of the first day of school.
