Making the case for continuing in school

UNICEF calculates that every additional year of student education increases their adult earnings by ten percent.

Rotary International, including several Rotary partner clubs in the Seattle area and in Guatemala are supporting three of the TINFA’s school partners to provide computer equipment, internet access and training to teachers in rural Guatemala. A primary objectives is to improve educational content and methods and encourage students to stay in school, particularly to make the transition from elementary to middle school.

TINFA facilitates meetings with parents of graduating elementary school children and directors of neighboring middle schools, to learn about options for continuing education after elementary schools. The parents told us that they found the information valuable.
